? 研究复杂性碳水化合物的抗原决定因子和生物活性区的化学构造及结合性质,将有助於解这些碳水化合物的分子在生物学和医学上所扮演的角色。这些知识对於疫苗的製造和血清诊断(Serodiagnosis)的改进或对於CancerGenetic disorders的诊断是有相当的助意的。同时,对於人类血型间的关係,微生物如何附着在宿主细胞和宿主如何在防止微生物侵入的过程,GlycoconjugatesNeurobiology所扮演的角色等等,将能用分子观点来解释,进而可供发展防止感染和中毒的方法。又如Lectins, ChitinOligosaccharides等,在医学上、工业上的应用具有相当的潜在力。目前台湾在这方面的基础研究几乎还在起点,长庚医学院的碳水化合物免疫化学研究室拥有抗原製备室、现代化的抗原决定因子纯化系统和免疫化学分析设备,可供国际水準复杂性碳水化合物和分子免疫学的研究。

Research Description

??? Knowledge of the structures and binding properties of antigenic determinants and active sites (epitopes) of complex carbohydrates will contribute to a better understanding of the functional roles of these carbohydrates at the molecular level, and will provide us with valuable information about the following aspects: (a) understanding life process, mechanism of infections, inflammation, genetic disorders and cancer; (b) producing new reagents to detect cancer; (c) for developing vaccines and drugs to prevent infection, and (d) for improving serodiagnosis.
