I. Remember the “Five Don’ts and One Must” to Reduce the Risk of Electrical Fires
1.Don’t leave unused power sockets unplugged.
2.Don’t twist, tie, or damage power cords.
3.Don’t overload electrical circuits.
4.Don’t place flammable materials near electrical appliances.
5.Don’t use wet or dirty plugs.
6.Must use products with official safety certification labels.
II. Dehumidifier Safety Tips
1.Avoid bending or pressing the power cord excessively.
2.Regularly check that the plug and socket are firmly connected and free from dirt buildup.
3.Keep the area well-ventilated during operation to prevent overheating.
4.Unplug the dehumidifier when leaving home or during long periods of non-use.
5.Clean the filter at least once a month and keep air vents unobstructed.
6.Stop using the device immediately if it produces abnormal sounds or odors.
7.Visit the Bureau of Standards, Metrology & Inspection, M.O.E.A., R.O.C. website to check for defective dehumidifier models under “Defective Product Search,” and ensure the product is BSMI-certified before purchase.
III. Electric Heater Safety Tips
1.Keep at least one meter of clearance between the heater and any flammable materials (such as clothes, blankets, or curtains).
2.Do not dry clothes directly on the heater.
3.As heaters consume high power, do not share an outlet with other high-power devices (e.g., hair dryers, dehumidifiers) to prevent overload.
4.Keep plugs and cords dry and clean. When unplugging, hold the plug itself—never pull the cord to avoid wire damage.
5.Choose certified products with approved safety labels.
6.Avoid prolonged use, especially while sleeping—set a timer or unplug before bed.
7.Keep the room slightly ventilated to prevent oxygen depletion and discomfort.
8.Replace old or worn-out heaters promptly to ensure safety.
IV. Laboratory Electrical Safety Precautions
1.For warehouses and storerooms in each department, please clean up and organize any clutter.
2.Check if the outlets and plugs have scorch marks, green rust, or accumulated dust. If using extension cords, ensure they are certified products.
3.When using dehumidifiers during the rainy season, make sure to turn them off when leaving the office to prevent fires. Unplug electrical appliances when not in use.
4. Refrigerators should be placed in well-ventilated areas, and high-power appliances should avoid sharing the same set of sockets.
5.Do not store flammable materials around electrical appliances.
