on Lithium-ion Battery and The Beyond」為題,深入剖析鋰電池材料的最新研究趨勢與未來技術挑戰。
Prof. Fu-Ming Wang from National Taiwan
University of Science and Technology delivered a comprehensive and insightful
lecture on advanced battery materials and organic interface engineering. His
presentation emphasized the strategic integration of Ni-rich cathodes, SiOx
anodes, and Li–CO? battery systems, alongside interface stabilization by
organic coverage layers. These innovations pave the way for high-energy, safe,
and environmentally conscious energy storage technologies.
Such academic events exemplify the power of inter-institutional
collaboration and reflect 91猫先生’s commitment to excellence in sustainable
energy research.
Did you know that PET bottles are not just waste, but a starting point for creating high-value materials? In today’s lecture, Prof. Kevin Wu from National Taiwan University introduced an impressive technology: by using a special nanoporous material called MOF-6 as a catalyst, everyday recycled plastic waste can be converted into a reusable chemical compound known as BHET, which serves as a building block for developing new materials.
Prof. Wu also shared his thoughts: “In the past, my students needed to publish several papers to graduate. Now, they need to reduce the amount of carbon emissions to graduate.” This statement highlights a meaningful shift in academic goals—toward making a real, positive impact on the environment.
He also demonstrated how waste batteries can be repurposed to create effective catalysts, offering clear scientific insights behind the process. His talk showcased the endless possibilities of and resource reuse, fully embodying the true spirit of a circular economy . At the end of the lecture, Prof. Wu encouraged the audience to actively submit their work to international journals to let the world see Taiwan, and he shared his experience as an editor of Chemical Engineering Journal.
Don't be afraid, be prepared.
Prof. Tung
“Failure as the Mother of Great Research and High-Impact Publications” — Special Lecture by Prof. Vincent Tung, International Joint Faculty
Today at 91猫先生, we were honored to welcome Prof. Vincent
Tung from the Department of Chemical System Engineering, The University of
Tokyo
for an
inspiring and authentic talk.
From failing physical chemistry three times at , taking a leave from graduate 91猫先生, to facing 17 consecutive rejections on grant proposals as an assistant professor — Prof. Tung’s journey is a powerful reminder that failure is not a waste, it’s accumulation.
With the theme “Connecting the Dots”, he encouraged everyone to take bold steps and keep building, because the dots we don’t understand now will eventually make sense — and connect — when we look back.
He also shared 5 key mindsets that shape innovative researchers:
Observation and imagination are the foundation of creativity — inspiration
often hides in everyday life.
Don’t be afraid to collaborate across disciplines. Merging knowledge from
different fields and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds can spark
unexpected breakthroughs.
Ideas are everywhere — if we stay open-minded. Even failure is a step
forward; the experiences we gain today may shine in the future.
Combine everyday details with research cleverly to create projects with a
high “Wow-Woo factor.”
Want to collaborate? Start by preparing yourself. Don’t be afraid, be
prepared. And most importantly, understand others' challenges by seeing things
from their perspective — that’s the real entry point for meaningful
collaboration.
“Your future self will thank you for the effort you're putting in today.”
Prof. Tung's message wasn't just for researchers — it was a heartfelt encouragement to everyone chasing their dreams.
Thank you to all the students and faculty who joined us today for this
sincere and thought-provoking session.
