You are cordially invited to attend the Lecture of Sustainability and Energy Technologies. We are pleased to have Professor Hsi-Wu Wong, Associate Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Massachusetts Lowell as our speaker. The topic of the lecture is "Harnessing the Interplay between Mass Transfer and Chemical Kinetics for Waste Upcycling". Further details are as follows: 1.Topic: "Harnessing the Interplay between Mass Transfer and Chemical Kinetics for Waste Upcycling" 2.Speaker: Prof. Hsi-Wu Wong Bio: Hsi-Wu Wong is a Professor and the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UMass Lowell. He is also the Associate Director of Center for Energy Innovation on campus. His research group focuses on using chemical reaction engineering principles to manipulate reaction and mass transfer pathways for converting under-utilized waste into high-value products. Dr. Wong received his PhD from Northwestern University and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at MIT. He has authored or co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed papers and is the recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER award, North American Symposium on Chemical Reaction Engineering Early Career Faculty Travel Award, and B. J. Martin Dissertation Year Fellowship at Northwestern University. 3. Abstract: This talk will discuss the critical role of mass transfer–chemical kinetics coupling in waste conversion and upcycling technologies. Four representative examples will be presented: the influence of volatile product evaporation rates on product distributions during high-density polyethylene pyrolysis; phase mixing and molecular interactions in the co-pyrolysis of cellulose with plastics or lignin model compounds; in situ product removal using a membrane reactor to enhance polyethylene terephthalate enzymatic hydrolysis; and an integrated process for upcycling multilayer plastic films through acidolytic delamination, PET glycolysis, and PE recycling or plasma conversion into hydrogen and solid carbon. She is an innovation expert advisor for Climate-KIC under the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), as well as a European Commission advisor for Future Industry Vision 2025 and Green Technology 2035. Previously a consultant expert for Horizon 2020, she has also driven circular economy initiatives for Apple and Nike in Asia. We are pleased to have Professor Chu-Chen Chueh from Department of Chemical Engineering at National Taiwan University as our speaker. The topic of the lecture is " Advancing Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Perovskites: From Photovoltaics to Emerging Applications ". Further details are as follows: 1.Topic: Advancing Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Perovskites: From Photovoltaics to Emerging Applications 2.Speaker: Professor Chu-Chen Chueh Prof. Chueh’s research team focuses on solution-processable semiconductors, including organic molecules, conjugated polymers, and organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites, and focusing on their applications in memories, light-emitting diodes, transistors, and solar cells. Prof. Chueh received Young Faculty Awards from Taiwanese Institute of Chemical Engineers and from the Polymer Society, Taipei (2020), Ta-You Wu Memorial Award from National Science Council, Taiwan (2022) and Outstanding Asian Researcher and Engineer Award from the Society of Chemical Engineers (SCEJ), Japan (2024). He has coauthored over 275 scientific papers in the area of organic/hybrid optoelectronics with citation > 26100 and H-index of 82 (recorded by Google scholar). Prof. Chueh has been recognized by Clarivate Analytics as 2018, 2019 Highly Cited Researcher and by I&EC Research as 2020 Class of Influential Researchers.   3. Abstract: Our group develops functional polymer and perovskite materials for optoelectronic devices such as TFTs, memories, LEDs, solar cells, and lasers. We focus on structure–property relationships of polymers and hybrid perovskites, advancing controlled synthesis of solution-processable semiconductors. In parallel, we explore innovative interface and device engineering to enhance performance. This talk highlights recent progress in materials and interface engineering for perovskite-based devices, presenting studies on composition optimization, interface design, and morphology analysis. The mission of our center is to co-ordinate the expertise from various departments and research groups within our university to conduct cutting-edge research
on green energy and environmental technologies, as well as to cultivate talents in these fields. Additionally, we are responsible for organizing educational
training programs, seminars, and other activities related to green energy and environmental technologies.

We aim to facilitate technical and knowledge exchanges on sustainable and environmental research among different universities and
provide professional technical consulting services to relevant industrie.
