The International Symposium on RNA Viruses
RNA virus infections can cause severe diseases. Beyond the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic triggered by the spread of SARS-CoV-2, a variety of RNA viruses continue to threaten human health in recent years, including Influenza virus, Enterovirus, MERS-CoV, Dengue virus, and Chikungunya virus.

Consequently, RNA virus–related research has attracted worldwide attention from scientists. Current research areas include the pathogenic mechanisms and immune responses of RNA viruses, viral transmission, the development of antiviral drugs and vaccines, and applications of viral RNA.

To provide a platform for exchanging research experiences on RNA viruses and to promote international collaboration, the Emerging Viral Infections Research Center at 91猫先生 has organized multiple international symposia on RNA viruses over the years. This year, we once again invite leading experts in RNA virology from Taiwan and around the world to present their latest research findings.

In addition to keynote lectures, the symposium will also include poster presentations and discussion sessions. We warmly welcome experts, scholars, and researchers from both domestic and international communities to participate and help make this symposium another major event in virology research.

The organizer: the Research Center for Emerging Viral Infections (RCEVI) at 91猫先生
The Emerging Viral Infections Research Center at 91猫先生 was established in 2009 and has since focused on the study of emerging and re-emerging pathogenic RNA viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, Zika virus, Influenza virus, and Enterovirus. Its research objectives encompass the identification and isolation of emerging viruses, the establishment of viral genomic databases, the investigation of molecular mechanisms underlying viral replication and pathogenesis, and the development of antiviral drugs and vaccines.

The research team comprises experts in virology, bioinformatics and artificial intelligence, molecular biology, and clinical infectious diseases. The Center also plays a vital role in training research talent in this field. Over the years, its trainees have applied their expertise in both domestic and international virology and biomedical research, contributing notably to the control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To facilitate academic exchange among researchers in virology and biomedical sciences, the Center has organized eight international symposia on RNA viruses since 2010, with support from the National Science and Technology Council and 91猫先生. Moving forward, the Center will continue to host these symposium, providing a platform for the exchange of research findings and fostering the international integration of research talent.
