This hands-on experience with industry-standard quantitative research tools enhances students’ practical fintech capabilities. Access real-time global financial data (stocks, bonds, foreign exchange, etc.) Support Python-based data analysis (Pandas, NumPy) Develop and backtest quantitative investment strategies Perform data visualization and interactive chart analysis Cloud-based notebook environment for research and collaboration Quantitative Strategy Performance Comparison Using the BQuant platform, students can compare multiple investment strategies simultaneously, evaluating key performance metrics such as Sharpe Ratio, returns, and maximum drawdown. Technical Analysis and Trading Strategy Implementation Students apply technical indicators such as Bollinger Bands to construct mean-reversion strategies, analyzing trading signals and cumulative returns. Pairs Trading Analysis Statistical methods are used to analyze the relationship between two assets, constructing spread and Z-score models to design quantitative arbitrage strategies. Index Arbitrage Backtesting Results This example illustrates the relative price spread between TSMC and the market index. Z-score is applied to identify arbitrage opportunities and evaluate cumulative returns. By integrating the Bloomberg Terminal and BQuant platform into the curriculum, students gain direct exposure to industry practices, developing interdisciplinary expertise in data analysis, programming, and quantitative investment.

    Derivatives AI Lab

To promote exchange between academia and industry, actively apply the latest research knowledge in financial asset pricing and artificial intelligence, foster the healthy development of derivative financial products, and advance futures education to cultivate professional talent in the financial field, our department has established a partnership with the Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX). With a donation of one million NT dollars from TAIFEX, earmarked for this specific purpose, the “Futures Artificial Intelligence Laboratory” was established.         One of the founding purposes of the “Futures Artificial Intelligence Laboratory” is to cultivate talent for the domestic futures market. Through the historical futures market data provided by this laboratory, enrolled students can perform database management, big data analysis, data modeling, trading strategy order simulation and profit-and-loss estimation, options pricing, and the calculation of hedging parameters. This enables students to become familiar with and understand the mechanisms of futures market operations, the risk and return characteristics of futures trading, and the strategies and applications of speculation, hedging, and arbitrage trading in the futures market—giving them the opportunity to become the new pioneers of the futures market.         The core technical capability of financial technology is the application of AI. The laboratory will provide an optimal research and learning environment, with the hope that students will make good use of this high-quality database to gain a head start in the AI era, nurturing a “new” generation of financial talent.
