Animal drugs containing Xylazine (e.g., Rompun) were officially announced to be included under Schedule IV controlled substances management on May 29, 2025. The measures to address this are as follows:
1. Users who are currently using, possessing, or storing pharmaceuticals containing Xylazine, as well as those who plan to purchase such products in the future, should visit the Food and Drug Administration’s official website, refer to the relevant regulations, and apply for a “Controlled Substances Registration Certificate” in accordance with the requirements.
2. Applications under review: Users who use Xylazine must submit a “Controlled Substances Registration Certificate” (this requirement is only visible in the attachment upload section of the application form).
3. Approved cases: Internal audits and PAM reviews are used to determine whether Xylazine are being used and whether regulatory requirements are complied with.

The strategies for ensuring the safe use of the anesthesia machine are as follows:
1. Conduct operations within the Laboratory Animal Center.
2. Purchase local exhaust ventilation equipment or an active waste gas recovery system for the laboratory.
3. If the laboratory bench is equipped with a suction port, a hose can be connected to it, with a funnel attached at the end. During gas anesthesia, the suction can be turned on to directly remove the waste gases.
4. Wear an activated carbon mask during operations.
